When we can help

Before you can use our service, the company you are complaining about must first be given the opportunity to sort out the dispute. Companies have eight weeks to do this.

At Ombudsman Services: Copyright Licensing we resolve complaints from consumers about PRS for Music, its members, and those who may require or who have obtained a license for the public performance of copyright music.

We are independent, meaning that we do not take sides and we make our decisions based on the facts. Consumers can use our services free of charge.

We are an alternative to the courts. If, when we have looked at your complaint, you are not happy with our decision you retain the right to ask the courts to consider the complaint.

We can only help with complaints about participating companies. At present this includes PRS for Music. We can accept complaints from its members and those who may require or who have obtained a license for the public performance of copyright music.
