New legislation requires all redress providers to be certified.
14 July 2015 - Ombudsman Services has today announced that it has been successful in obtaining certification Ofcom the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries. Certification permits Ombudsman Services to continue to operate as an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) entity under the ADR Regulations 2015.
Ofcom is the competent authority for the UK communications and postal sectors (including electronic communications services, postal services, premium rate services, Pay TV and VOD services, and equipment supplied with communications contracts such as broadband routers and mobile phone handsets)
From 9 July 2015 legislative changes mean that all dispute resolution providers need to be certified by the government approved Competent Authority to operate within the sectors they serve. Ombudsman Services has been proudly providing a redress service for the communications sector since 2003 and last year resolved 15,173 communication complaints.
